Representation: Glemsford as a whole is a lovely village. Developing it further would be detrimental and make it more town like. With the scale of development over the past 4 years, we have already had our fair share. Glemsford has become a dumping ground for the area. It seems to be forgotten that people actually care for their village and the future of it. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! If a site had to be chosen within Glemsford then the site south of Kings Road, west of Park Lane, Planning Ref SS0286, would be the lesser of four evils!

Original submission

Glemsford as a whole is a lovely village. I feel that developing it further would be detrimental and make it more town like, yet without the amenities of a town.

ACCESS

Access to Glemsford is via 4 routes, Low St, Park Lane, Water Lane and Skates Hill. All of these routes are narrow, winding, already overloaded and completely unsuitable for high volumes of traffic.

GEOGRAPHY

Glemsford is rurally located and finds itself 12 miles from the nearest hospital. Building more houses will only increase the pressure on an already overloaded Health Service sending ambulances to residents that may require them.

CRIME

Glemsford already has an issue with crime and bored youths. The Police are stretched and rarely seen in the village. I feel a large development would only exacerbate this.

INFRASTRUCTURE

The school and Doctors Surgery are already at capacity and do not lend themselves to further development. Residents have had to start sending their children to schools further afield as a result. A development on such a scale would cripple the amenities and in turn result in more vehicular movements along already overloaded country lanes.

Glemsford also doesn't have many job opportunities and is 6 miles from the nearest town, therefore increasing the need for more vehicular movements and in turn will have an environmental impact. Already the roads through Glemsford are clogged with vehicles due to lack of parking, which reflects the historical nature of the village. When the core was built, there were no cars!

Surely with the scale of development over the past 4 years, we have already had our fair share. It saddens me that yet again Glemsford has become a dumping ground for the area. It seems to be forgotten that people actually care for their village and the future of it. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

If a site had to be chosen within Glemsford then the site south of Kings Road, west of Park Lane, Planning Ref SS0286, would be the lesser of four evils!
