Representations on BMSDC Joint Local Plan Consultation Document (Interactive) - SS1028 - Allocated Land at Chilton Woods Site (West)

Representation ID: 10176

COMMENT Historic England (Katie Parsons)

Summary:

The northern sites (the Chilton Woods development) would affect large swathes of
medieval landscape to the north of Sudbury. The these allocations are of particular
concern as they contain the Wood Hall moated site scheduled monument, and are in
close proximity to a scheduled Roman Villa to the north east of Rodbridge House.
The Wood Hall moated site is on the National Heritage at Risk Register, it is at high
risk and would benefit from improved management. The potential site allocations to
the north of Sudbury abut the Grade II listed Registered Park and Garden (RPAG) of
Chilton Hall which itself contains the grade II* listed Chilton Hall as well the grade II
boundary walls. To the immediate northeast of some of the sites lies Sudbury Airfield,
a World War II military afield of some interest despite not being listed, this nondesignated
heritage asset should be considered.

OBJECT Mr. Nick Miller for Sudbury Green Belt Group

Summary:

SUMMARY: The land west of Tesco, and the plot north of Woodhall Moat, are two of the most precious of the scenes round Sudbury and Cornard that are threatened by development. FIRST: this area was extended since the consultation exhibition, SECOND: this extension destroys the last green space readily accessible from Sudbury, contrary to all NPPF safeguards for healthy communities etc; THIRD: This plan ignores the Joint Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Council Landscape Guidance 2015, which we detail. FOURTH: No consideration given to Town Council's proposal, for adequate green space near Woodhall Moat.
