Representations on BMSDC Joint Local Plan Consultation Document (Interactive) - SS0004 - Land to the south of Bacton Road, Haughley

Representation ID: 9263

OBJECT Last Tricker Partnership (Mr. Martin Last)

Summary:

The site along Green Road (part of ss0004) can accommodate all of Haughley's housing needs, including it's affordable housing needs for the duration of the new Local Plan period. The proximity of the site to the primary school, King George's Field and local services is such that the site has better connectivity than any other site in the village and it's allocation and development would accord with all three roles of sustainable development set out in the NPPF. The site has the support of the Parish Council.

COMMENT Haughley Parish Council (Alf Hannan)

Summary:

This site is deemed suitable for inclusion in the Haughley settlement boundary (as might be the parcel of land to the west of this site). There remain however, several issues with this site: increased traffic through the village; road safety; need for pedestrian crossings for Crawford's school and Co-Op; extension of 30 mph speed into and out of Haughley towards Haughley Green; potential new school; restriction on expansion of King George's playing fields. If this site planning application is granted, there will be 98 houses built thus more than meeting the annualised objectively assessed need for the area and so not requiring sites SS0149, SS0270 and SS0047 to be included within the settlement boundary of Haughley.

My clients, the landowners, consider that the Local Plan should be amended to include their site in Green Road.
