COMMENT Miss R P Baillon

Summary:

If the town centres such as Stowmarket were reinvigorated this would make a difference to the situation. However, building developments such as the current ones in Framlingham do not solve these problems but destroy the ethos of the town and put to great a strain on the infrastructure. Brownfield sites should be utilised and the possibility of a new garden city should be considered as this could be custom built with amenities and infrastructure developed to suit the number of dwellings and house a significant number of people. It would also cut down the imposition of developments in towns and villages that have reached capacity.

OBJECT Mr Neil Lister

Summary:

Use existing retail/commercial space, where units regularly close and become empty. These exist. On such reuse sites, commercial leisure cannot be expected to be the saviour of retail schemes and careful consideration needs to be given to ensuring a vibrant and complementary mix of operators are accommodated whilst guarding against an oversupply.
