COMMENT Thorndon Parish Council (Amanda Thompson)

Summary:

Site should not be included in its entirety. Agreement that the site has good access and is appropriate for limited development - 5 to 8 houses. If the entirety of the site was developed it would swamp current infrastructure.

Highways issues - number of single track roads
School is full subscribed, will need to increase capacity in next few years
Bus service is under threat

COMMENT Historic England (Katie Parsons)

Summary:

The hamlet of Thorndon contains the Grade II* listed Church of All Saints and several
other Grade II listed buildings. Only one site is being considered for allocation within
Throndon but given the size of the site relative to the size of the settlement and due
to the position of the site, its development would have the potential to impact upon
the setting of nearby designated heritage assets. The presence of these heritage
assets and their settings should therefore be considered carefully as part of the site
allocation process.

OBJECT Mr & Mrs Martin Steele

Summary:

Thorndon has recently experienced multiple planning applications being granted for over 40 new dwellings in total(a material number given the size of the village).

It is yet to be proven that the village infrastructure can actually support even these dwellings, their occupants and associated traffic etc . We do not believe it can so do not support further expansion at this stage.
